Jefferson Avenue bank robbed Monday afternoon

A man robbed an M&T Bank branch on Jefferson Avenue on Monday afternoon, according to Buffalo police.

The robber handed a note to a teller inside the branch at 1300 Jefferson, just south of East Utica Street, at about 1:40 p.m., according to a police report and department spokesman Michael J. DeGeorge.

The suspect was described as a black male, about 5-foot-7 and 170 pounds who had a scar on his right cheek, according to the police report. He was wearing a red plaid shirt under a white and grey vest, a baseball cap and sunglasses.

The robber fled the scene in an unknown direction, according to the report.
