Girl Scouts of WNY honor women of distinction

Nine local women will honored by the Girl Scouts of Western New York for their strength in character, dedication to community service and commitment to mentoring and encouraging girls and young women.

The Women of Distinction dinner and awards ceremony will begin at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 21 at the Mary Seaton Room in Kleinhans Music Hall, 3 Symphony Circle.

This event is open to the community.

Honorees include: Lisa Coppola, vice president of the Coppola Firm & the English Gardener; Pionne Corbin, regional vice president of GEICO Insurance; Nina Heard, community relations manager, General Motors Powertrain Tonawanda Engine Plant; Katherine Mohney, senior vice president for Morgan Stanley, Tara Sweeney Hughes, coordinator of human trafficking initiative and Northeast Division disaster mental health advisor for American Red Cross.
