Garden Notes for Sept. 18-22

Smallwood Garden Club will meet at 7 p.m. Sept. 18 at Williamsville United Methodist Church, 5681 Main St., Williamsville. Nancy Kalieta, former volunteer coordinator at the Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens and president of Hamburg House and Garden Club, will present "The Victorian Language of Flowers."

The Federated Holland Garden Club will meet at 11 a.m. Sept. 20 in the Brink Memorial Community Center, Legion Drive, Holland. Following the business meeting and luncheon, Carole Melnik, owner of A Snail's Place, 6550 Seneca St., Elma, will present "Fun With Fruits and Vegetables." Members will make an edible arrangement. New members welcome. The club will sponsor a Junior Harvest and Flower Show, with the theme "Secret Life of Pets," from noon to 3 p.m. and 6:30 to 8 p.m. Sept. 21 at the H.O. Brumsted Elementary School Gym, Canada Street, Holland. Call 537-2120.

Western New York Rose Society will meet at 7 p.m. Sept. 20 at St. Stephens-Bethlehem United Church of Christ, 750 Wehrle Drive, Amherst, for an educational rose show. Members will bring roses to be judged.

Cinderella Isle Garden Club will meet at 7 p.m. Sept. 21 in Trinity United Methodist Church, 2100 Whitehaven Road, Grand Island. Diane Carr will lead a workshop on stamping techniques. Call Julie Furminger at 833-3899.

Garden Club of the Tonawandas will meet at 7 p.m. Sept. 21 in the Tonawanda City Hall community room, 200 Niagara St., Tonawanda. Master gardener Joe Manuel will present a program on saving seeds and successfully germinating them. New members welcome.

The Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens Society Inc. will hold its annual Gala at the Gardens fundraiser from 6 to 10 p.m. Sept. 22. This year’s theme is “A Night in Balance.” Visit here for details.
