Comedy on Tap: Miguel Dalmau, Buffalo's Best and ComedySportz

In addition to Robert Kelly’s weekend-long stop at Helium Comedy Club, there are lots of other opportunities to get your laugh on during the weekend of Sept. 15-17.

New York City comic Miguel Dalmau will perform at 7:30 and 9:30 p.m. Sept. 16 at Rob’s Comedy Playhouse. Dalmau was one of the featured comedians on AXS TV’s “Gotham Comedy Live” program and his album “Thank You, That’s My Time” is a regular staple on Sirius XM radio. His bio also proudly notes his breakout roles on TruTV “doing what any self-respecting Latino man would do: re-enacting crime footage.” Tickets are $12. Info: robscomedyplayhouse.com

Are you interested in supporting local comedians but unsure where to start? Check out Helium’s “Best of the City Roundup” showcase featuring some of Buffalo’s funniest comics. The September show will feature Tony Pusateri of Mix 96.1 FM, Dan Mahoney and Rick Matthews, former winner of “Buffalo’s Funniest Person” contest. Tyrone Maclin will host the evening. The show is 7:30 p.m. Sept. 17 at Helium Comedy Club. Tickets are $12. Info: buffalo.heliumcomedy.com

Do you prefer to see where the day takes you instead of making plans? So do the people at ComedySportz Buffalo, the local improv group that performs multiple shows every weekend at The Arena (4476 Main St.,  Amherst). The standard ComedySportz shows at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 15 and 16 feature all-ages entertainment made up on the spot. The group also performs a late-night Saturday show “Knockout” for adults at 9:30 p.m. Finally, ComedySportz will host a fundraiser for Awesome Paws Rescue at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 17. If you say, “Yes, and …” for ComedySportz, you can buy tickets for $9 to $17. Info: cszbuffalo.com
