Drug task force investigation puts two Olean men in jail

Two Olean men were charged with selling and possessing crack cocaine following a joint investigation by the Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Office and the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force.

David E. Brooks, 46, and David J. Vattes, 41, both of Third Street, were arrested Friday. Each was charged with two felony counts of criminal sale and possession of a controlled substance.

Brooks' charges stem from two incidents that happened on May 11 and 17, in which he sold crack cocaine to another person in the City of Olean, police said.

Vattes also allegedly sold crack cocaine on April 19 and May 23 in the City of Olean, police said.

Both defendants were arraigned in Cattaraugus County Court and sent to county jail in lieu of $2,500 bail.
