An investigation by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, State Police and Buffalo Police has resulted in the arrest of a Buffalo man on drug charges, officials said.
Luis Matias, 27, was charged by criminal complaint with conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute and to distribute butyryl fentanyl, and possession with intent to distribute and distribution of butyryl fentanyl, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.
Matias faces a maximum of 20 years in prison if convicted on the charges, officials said.
According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, in July law enforcement officers developed information that Matias was distributing large quantities of heroin in the Buffalo area.
During the investigation, a confidential source and undercover officers were used to conduct controlled heroin purchases from Matias, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.
