Chautauqua County to remember 9-11 with ceremony

The Chautauqua County Veterans Council and American Legion will conduct a 9-11 Remembrance Ceremony at noon Monday in front of the Chautauqua County Courthouse, 1 N. Erie St., Mayville.

The program will honor and remember the more than 3,000 Americans who were killed Sept. 11, 2001 when terrorists hijacked four planes and crashed them into the World Trade Center in New York City, the Pentagon just outside of Washington, D.C., and a field in western Pennsylvania.

“As we approach the 16th Anniversary of this horrific attack on our nation, I urge all citizens of Chautauqua County to again keep the members of our military and first responders in their thoughts and prayers,” Chautauqua County Executive Vince Horrigan said.
