Animal complaints in Niagara Falls, especially those pertaining to potentially vicious dogs, now will be handled through the City Clerk's Office.
"Up until now, dog issues would be dealt with after an attack. What we're trying to do here is identify potential problems," City Clerk Lisa A. Vitello said.
A complaint form is available on the city website, or complaints can be phoned to 286-4300 during business hours. Vitello said the website also allows emails to be sent to her on nights or weekends, and she will forward them to an animal control officer.
That officer will investigate and take whatever action is warranted under state law. Any unlicensed dogs will draw tickets regardless of the officer's other findings.
