One of two drivers in a collision Tuesday on East Lake Road in Newfane was ejected from her car, and is in critical condition, according to the Niagara County Sheriff's Office.
Sheriff's deputies responded at about 2:36 p.m., after getting 911 calls reporting the crash and what turned out to be incorrect reports that both drivers had been ejected from their cars, authorities said.
Deputies said an initial investigation showed that a vehicle headed west on East Lake Road crossed the center median and struck an eastbound vehicle. The eastbound vehicle rolled several times, coming to rest on its roof on a nearby lawn, according to the Sheriff's Office.
The driver of the westbound vehicle was ejected from the car, which came to rest on the south side of the road, the Sheriff's Office said.
Both drivers were taken by Mercy Flight to Erie County Medical Center.
Linda Brown, 62, of Newfane, the driver of the westbound vehicle, was in critical condition, according to the Sheriff's Office.
The other driver, Frederick Justice, 59, of Lewiston, was treated for minor injuries, authorities said.
