Homeroom Announcements: Tuesday's big games & more

Get yourself ready for today's #PrepTalkLive action with everything you need to know about the day ahead in high school sports.

What to watch for Tuesday

1. Boys soccer - Williamsville North at Clarence, 5 p.m.

Two of the top teams in Western New York square off in a big ECIC I matchup.

The Spartans (4-0, 2-0) have outscored their opponents 21-1 on the season, letting up their only goal in an 8-1 league win over West Seneca West last Friday. They shut out Grand Island (3-0) and Lancaster (2-0) in wins prior to that. Seniors Justin Bonetto and Blake Ferrell each have five goals.

The Red Devils (2-0, 0-0) swept a pair of Monsignor Martin foes at their kick-off tournament in Nichols, 4-0, and St. Joe's, 2-1. Junior forward Ross Showalter leads the defending Class AA champs in goals with three.

The Vikings graduated eight seniors, including four starters, but do return All-WNY large school selections Claire Brandon and Lauren Chadwick.

The Red Devils are coming off their first Section VI title since 1999. Senior setter Shawn Trznadel and sophomore Teddy Payne are the top two players returning. The team opens league play at home Thursday against Frontier.

The Panthers lost five players from last year's team that fell to Hamburg in the Division II-A final. Senior setter Jon Miller and junior hitters Dylan Aarum and Solomon Shabazz are a few of the top players back. Sweet Home hosts Amherst tomorrow in its first ECIC II matchup.
