Two Daemen cross-country runners and a tennis player were honored by the East Coast Conference. Sophomore Josh Bodnar was named Men's Runner of the Week and freshman Tara Pede was named Women's Rookie Runner of the week. Bodnar finished first among 25 runners in the Daniel Walker Invitational hosted by Buffalo State at Beaver Island State Park last Friday, running the 5K course in 16:28. Pede made her collegiate debut in the same meet and finished second out of 33 competitors in 20:33 in the women's race.
In tennis, freshman Lorissa Yuen was named ECC Women's Rookie of the Week, leading victories at St. Michael's College (Vt.) and American International. She won her singles match and teamed with Gretchen Ringler (North Tonawanda) to win in second doubles at St. Michael's. She repeated that at AIC, again with Ringler as her doubles partner.
