North Bay, Windsor and Kitchener win final Showcase games

Six different North Bay Battalion players scored goals and goaltenders Mat Toroniuk and Julian Sime combined to stop 33 of 34 goals in a 6-1 victory over the Flint Firebirds on Sunday at HarborCenter as the Ontario Hockey League Pre-Season Showcase wrapped up. North Bay finished with a 2-0-1 record in the preseason event. Brett McKenzie and Daniel Walker had a goal and an assist each for Battalion. Justin Brazeau, Cam Dineen, Alex Robert and Luke Burghardt also scored for North Bay. Hakon Nilsen had the Flint goal.

Williams Sirman had two goals and Jake Smith a pair of assists for the Windsor Spitfires (3-0) in a 4-1 win over the Peterborough Petes (1-2). Lucas Patton stopped 19 shots while Matthew MacDougall and Igor Larionov also scored for the Spitfires. Adam Timleck had the Petes' goal.

Cole Carter scored twice, including the game-winner in the second period as the Kitchener Rangers (1-1-1) handed the Erie Otters (2-1-0) their only loss of the Showcase, 3-2. Defenseman Jack York had the other Rangers goal and Luke Richardson made 30 saves for the winners. Aidan Timmermans and Christian Girhiny scored power-play goals for Erie.
