The Buffalo Board of Education will hold special meetings Wednesday and Thursday to interview candidates who applied to fill the vacant Park District seat.
Each session will begin at 5:30 p.m. in Room 801 in City Hall, though the board indicated it may go into executive session to interview candidates.
The seat became vacant Aug. 17 when state Education Commissioner MaryEllen Elia removed Carl Paladino for publicly revealing information from an executive session.
According to state law, the board had 30 days to appoint a new representative for the Park District, which encompasses South Buffalo.
If the board does not act within 30 days, Mayor Byron W. Brown has the authority to select a replacement, with Common Council confirmation. That must be done within a subsequent 30-day period.
