Bisons: Game cancelled at Syracuse; season ends Monday

The Buffalo Bisons game in at NBT Bank Stadium in Syracuse on Sunday night was rained out and will not be made up. The Bisons and Chiefs will complete their regular season with a single game at 1:05 p.m. Monday.

Early Sunday night, the Chiefs announced that the game had been cancelled "due to impending rain. "The forecast calls for rain throughout the evening," the press release went on.

Left-hander T.J. House (9-11, 4.27) , who was Sunday's scheduled starter for Buffalo, figures to get the assignment today. It would be House's 24th start of the season, tying him with Brett Oberholtzer for the team lead in that category.  House will attempt to be the Herd's only double-digit winner this season. He has had only three no-decisions on his record this season.  House won his first three decisions this season, two of them scoreless stints. He has struck oiut 104 batters and walked 62 innings in 130.2 innings while allowing 144 hits and 71 earned runs. House pitched into the eighth inning only once in his 23 starts, that being his last start in a 10-4 win over Toledo on Augusts 13.  His contract was selected by Toronto on Aug. 19 and he was returned to the Bisons on Saturday in order to make one final Triple-A start this season with the Herd.

Right-hander John Simms (2.4, 5.63) is expected to start for the Chiefs, who nave a 9-8 record against Buffalo this season.

Saturday night's 2-1 walk-off loss to the Chiefs on Andrew Stevenson's RBI single in the bottom of the ninth, ended a three-game Buffalo win streak..

Sunday was scheduled to be Back to School Day at NBT Bank Stadiuim with the Chiefs giving away 1,000 lunchboxes to 1,000 youngsters 12 and with the kids eating free. That promotion will be held on Monday, which will still be Fan Appreciation Day decided to long-time Chiefs season-ticket holder Fred Karle. A new Fan Wall of Fame will be unveiled and dedicated in his honor.
