Several people were injured Saturday afternoon when a Dunkirk woman driving on Route 5 swerved to avoid a deer and her vehicle left the road and overturned.
Chautauqua County Sheriff's deputies reported that Kristi Jones, 25, was traveling west in the Town of Sheridan when the deer caused her to lose control of her vehicle. It struck a mailbox, road sign, fire hydrant and fence before rolling and coming to a stop on its roof.
There were five people in the vehicle. Jones and two children sustained minor injuries and an infant escaped unharmed. The other adult passenger, Eric Jones, 31, suffered serious injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening. All were taken to Brooks Hospital for examination and treatment, deputies reported.
Deputies said no charges were filed in connection with the crash.
