Raising money for medical research amid a series of wine tastings?
It all rolls into what's being billed as a "wine varietal" benefitting Hauptman-Woodward Medical Research Institute as part of the company's annual research fundraiser on Sept. 15 at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center.
The exclusive event, expected to draw 450 attendees, leads guests through a series of tastings between 6 and 9 p.m. at the center, 153 Franklin St.
Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus President and Chief Executive Officer Matthew K. Enstice and his wife, Jessica Jacobs Enstice, are chairing the event.
Funds raised are used to start new research projects. For every $1 donated, HWI researchers secure $13 in competitive federal research funds, the company said. HWI has raised as much as $182,000 during similar fundraisers.
There will be a live auction with support from numerous community members making donations.
