Homeroom Announcements: Tuesday's big games & more

Get yourself ready for today's #PrepTalkLive action with everything you need to know about the day ahead in high school sports.

What to watch for Tuesday

1. Boys soccer - Williamsville North at Lancaster, 4:45 p.m.

Some early-season boys soccer action in ECIC I headlines Tuesday's schedule.

The Spartans (2-0) came out flying at Sweet Home's Coaches vs. Cancer Tournament last weekend. They picked up an 8-0 win over Newfane and a 3-0 win over defending Class A champ Grand Island. Senior Blake Ferrell notched three goals and two assists, while junior Matt Lindaman scored twice.

The Legends (1-0-1) played the same two teams, tying Grand Island, 1-1, and beating Newfane, 3-1. Junior Jovan Opacic had a goal and an assist. Senior Jason Martin had a pair of assists.

2. Girls soccer - Mount St. Mary at Kenmore East, 7 p.m.

The Bulldogs welcome the defending Monsignor Martin Class B champs to newly-renovated Adams Field for a game under the lights.

Mount St. Mary will move up to Class A this year because of their 2016 title. Ruth Riggie was honorable mention All-Western New York last season. Defender Megan Persico and keeper Megan Preisch are others to watch out for on the Thunder.

Kenmore East went 4-13 last season but won its first two games and lost six times by two goals or less.

3. Boys volleyball - Amherst at Clarence, 6 p.m.

Clarence, the No. 5 team in the first boys volleyball poll of the season, hosts Amherst in an early nonleague matchup.

The Red Devils lost in the quarterfinals of their own tournament last Saturday to Lockport, which eventually went on to go beat Canisius in the final. Senior setter Shawn Trznadel and third-year sophomore Teddy Payne, the younger brother of last year's Prep Talk Player of the Year Henry Payne, are two of the top players for Clarence.

Amherst, meanwhile, went 0-7 at the Clarence Tournament.
