Authorities have identified the man involved in Friday's fatal train accident, said City of Dunkirk police.
John M. Sharpe, 27, was struck and killed by a CSX freight train just before 8:30 p.m., police said. Police said Sharpe was sitting between rails when he was hit by the train.
The accident occurred on the CSX rail line above the South Roberts Road overpass, said Dunkirk Police Chief David C. Ortolano.
Police said the man was struck by an eastbound train.
