Nichols grad Emily Janiga taken in CWHL Draft

Nichols graduate Emily Janiga was taken in the Canadian Women's Hockey League Draft on Sunday by the Vanke Rays, which recently became the second Chinese team in the league.

The center was taken in the fifth round with the 35th overall pick.

Janiga graduated from Nichols in 2012 and played four seasons for women's college hockey powerhouse Mercyhurst. She was named the 2015 College Hockey America Player of the Year after leading the conference in goals (27), points (45) and power-play goals (11).

In addition to playing for the Rays, Janiga will work in Shenzhen, China as a brand ambassador for women's ice hockey.
