Lockport man admits raping an unconscious woman

A Town of Lockport man pleaded guilty Monday to raping a woman who was unconscious from drinking and using drugs.

Christopher A. Penwright, 23, of Gardenwood Drive, said the incident happened at a party in his home Oct. 15. He said the woman was too intoxicated to consent to sex.

Penwright, who pleaded guilty to third-degree rape before his case could be presented to a grand jury, faces up to four years in prison when sentenced Oct. 16 by Niagara County Judge Matthew J. Murphy III.

He remains free on $10,000 bail in the meantime.
