Neighborhood Health Center has opened its newest site in Blasdell, marking the nonprofit community health care organization's fourth location in Western New York.
The 38,000-square-foot site is in a former Jubilee Supermarket that was converted into a medical facility at 4233 Lake Ave.
It's aimed at expanding services for patients in Blasdell, Lackawanna and South Buffalo, and was funded in part with a $650,000 New Access Point grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration, part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
Services include internal and family medicine, laboratory services, pediatric and adolescent care, obstetrics and gynecology, dental health, behavioral health, nutritional services and podiatry. An in-house pharmacy will open in mid-November, and endocrinology health services will begin in early September.
There's also more storefront retail space for other health-related organizations to occupy, including for a laboratory draw site and a radiology center that are planned for "the near future," according to a news release.
The renamed Neighborhood Health Center was founded in 1987 as the Northwest Buffalo Community Health Care Center.
The organization also has locations in the Mattina center on Niagara Street on Buffalo's West Side, as well as in the Black Rock-Riverside neighborhood and in Hamburg.
