HUNGRY? – St. James United Methodist Church, 4661 Porter Road, hosts a Chiavetta’s chicken barbecue from 3 to 6 p.m. Wednesday. Dinners are $10, drive-thru only, and include homemade coleslaw, roasted potatoes and a brownie. To reserve, call 297-6421.

The Cheektowaga Lions Club will hold its annual beef roast Thursday afternoon in Bowen Grove, 2925 Bowen Road, Lancaster. Food at 2 p.m. includes hot dogs, hamburgers, corn, clam chowder, watermelon, beer and soft drinks. The roast beef dinner will be served at 6 p.m. There also will be music and prizes. ELVIS LIVES – A remembrance concert on the 40th anniversary of Elvis Presley’s death will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Alden Village Bandstand on Church Street, between Broadway (Route 20) and West Main Street. Featured will be Terry Buchwald performing his Tribute to the King. Sponsored by the Town of Alden, admission is free. Lawn chairs are welcome. For more info, call 937-6969, Ext. 2.

PLAN AHEAD – Licensed real estate brokers Anne Kader and Sally Bally Conover, members of the Olear Team at MJ Peterson, will present an informational seminar for seniors about simplifying a living situation from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the Fairways at Lancaster, 5352 Genesee St., Bowmansville. ON THE ROAD – A new play within a play will be the highlight of “The Homewood Theater Company Takes a Vacation,” a humorous look at traveling which opens at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the Williamsville Lehigh Valley Depot, 86 S. Long St., Williamsville.
The new segment, “A Journey to California,” was written by Homewood’s Marty Bauer following a trip he and his wife, Mary Sue, took to the Golden State a few years ago.
Performances in reader’s theater style will continue through Sunday. Tickets are $8, $6 for seniors and students, $4 for children 12 and under. Proceeds of the performances benefit restoration and upkeep of the depot.
