Taxes going up for West Seneca School District property owners

West Seneca Central School District taxpayers will see a slight increase when tax bills are delivered next month.

The School Board this week set the levy and tax rates, which are going up. The $59.87 million levy is up 1.58 percent.

Tax rates for property owners are: West Seneca, $43.56, up 40 cents or 0.9 percent; Cheektowaga, $17.42, up 16 cents or 0.92 percent; Orchard Park, $33.50, up $1.24 or 3.8 percent, and Hamburg, $33.50 up 93 cents or 2.8 percent.

Tax rates in Hamburg and Orchard Park have larger percentage increases due to the decrease in their equalization rates, which are set by New York State.
