Alden man facing felony DWI charge after fleeing traffic stop

An Alden man was charged with felony DWI after he ran from deputies at a traffic stop early Friday.

Scott Meyer, 23, was stopped about 2:50 a.m. Friday by deputies after they saw him commit traffic violations on Main Street near Harris Hill Road in Clarence, the Erie County Sheriff's Office said. During the stop, Meyer fled on foot from the scene. More law enforcement officers were dispatched as deputies searched for him. Meyer was apprehended about 3:35 a.m.

Meyer was charged with felony DWI and a felony count of aggravated unlicensed operation, because of a prior conviction and his driver's license was revoked, the Sheriff's Office said. He also is facing misdemeanor counts of resisting arrest, obstructing government administration and circumventing an interlock device.
