Wellness Fair kicks off Lackawanna Community Fun Days

Lackawanna Community Fun Days will kick off with a Resource and Wellness Fair from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25, in the Lackawanna Public Library, 560 Ridge Road.

Health screenings will be available from many health and wellness service providers.

An awards dinner at 6 p.m. Aug. 25 at Lucarelli's Banquet Center, 1830 Abbott Road, will salute Assemblywoman Crystal D. Peoples, who will present the Pioneer Award to two retired Lackawanna Police Department officers, William Taggert and Charles O'Connor. Others to be honored include: Lackawanna Drug Court, Human Services Award; Elise Fears, Sen. Tim Kennedy's community liaison, Community Impact Leadership Award; Judy Faircloth, Lackawanna School District's community liaison, Community Engagement Award; attorney Frank Bybel, Business Award; and Hayden Fitzpatrick, a Boy Scout, Hero Award.

A pop-up park is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 26 at the library. This free event will feature bounce houses, pony rides, games, food trucks and music.
