Buffalo’s boys team is on to the semifinals in the Basketball Coaches Association of New York Summer Hoops Festival in Johnson City.
The squad representing Western New York won its first three games. Buffalo defeated New York Catholic, 60-54, and downed Adirondack, 80-74, in games played on Friday. Then on Saturday, the squad downed Mid-Hudson Valley, 78-67. But Central got in the way of a perfect record in pool play, winning by a score of 99-73.
Noah Hutchins of Park has been a standout for the Buffalo team so far. He scored a total of 70 points in the first three games combined, as no one could prevent him from taking the ball to the basket. Hutchins also won the slam dunk contest.
Other standouts have been Joe Jones and Daniel Scott from Park and Trevor Book from North Tonawanda.
Buffalo moved on to the semifinals today against Rochester. The winner of that game plays the Hudson Valley vs. Central winner for the championship.
The Buffalo girls team went 1-2 in round-robin play, and will play a consolation game on Sunday.
