Legislators continue push to keep W. Seneca Children's Psych Center

Two state legislators are continuing to pressure the governor to sign a bill that would keep the Western New York Children’s Psychiatric Center in West Seneca instead of moving it to the grounds of the Buffalo Psychiatric Center.

Sen. Patrick Gallivan, R-Elma, said residents can sign an online petition calling on the governor to sign the bill at savewnycpc.com.

Assemblyman Mickey Kearns, D-Buffalo, said his constituents have returned about 6,000 surveys on the children's psychiatric center. Nearly everyone who returned the survey wanted to keep the center where it is, he said. He mailed the surveys to his entire district in June.

The towns of West Seneca, Colden, Aurora and Lewiston and villages of Aurora, Orchard Park and Hamburg as well as the Erie County Legislature have passed resolutions in support of keeping the center in West Seneca.
