Aug. 5 – Beginner’s class on kayaking at Beaver Island State Park with one hour sessions at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. A kayak, jacket and paddle will be provided. Call 282-5154 to register.

Aug. 4-6 – Northern Chautauqua Conservation Club’s 13th Annual walleye derby on Lake Erie. Top 3 fish each day. Teams can consist of 2 to 4 anglers. Entry fee is $100. For more information contact Zen Olow at 640-2776.

Aug. 8 – Niagara County Chapter of SCOPE will have its monthly meeting at the Wilson Conservation Club, Route 425, Wilson starting at 7 p.m.

Aug. 18 – Reelin’ for a Cure ladies trout and salmon tournament out of Wilson and Olcott 6 a.m. to noon. Call Stephanie Pierleoni  at 481-6388. It’s a great opportunity to help a most worthy cause. This year’s tournament will benefit the Breast Cancer Network of WNY.

Aug. 20 -- Boston Valley Conservation Society; 9624 Zimmerman Road, , Boston, will host a 10-week Phall Trap League starting Aug. 20. Sign-up times are Sundays 9 am-12 noon and Thursdays 6-8 p.m.. Individuals, teams and practice shooters are all welcome.
