The public is invited to a Meet the Authors gardening event from 2 to 4 p.m. Aug. 4 at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center, 153 Franklin St. More than 25 garden book authors are expected to participate. No ticket required. The event is free to attend and coincides with the GWA/Association of Garden Communicators Annual Conference taking place in Buffalo.
The 13th annual Riverside Tour of Gardens will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 5 with about 40 gardens. More than 20 gardens are expected for the Starry Night Garden Tour that night from 8 to 10 p.m. Tour day headquarters: St. Mark’s & All Saints’ Church, 311 Ontario St. New this year: 14207 Day with historic tours, live music, crafts and more. Kenmore Garden Club members will board a motor coach at 8:15 a.m. Aug. 8 at Kenmore United Methodist Church and head to Lockport for a cruise down the Erie Canal and through the locks. Lunch at the Canalside restaurant and a stop at Faery's garden center will follow. Regular meeting will resume in September.
East Park Garden Club will hold its annual picnic at 6 p.m. Aug. 8 at the home of Rosemary Madejski. Call 773-9158.
Evans Garden Club will meet at 7 p.m. Aug. 8 at the Angola Public Library. Richard Price of Urban Roots will present “Four Seasons of Gardening.”
Amana Garden Club will not hold a business meeting in August. Members wishing to join a tour of the flower show at the Erie County Fair are to meet at 11:30 a.m. Aug. 9 at 630 Main St., West Seneca, to carpool. Dutch treat lunch.
South Town Gardeners will meet at 10 a.m. Aug. 11 in the rear lot of the West Seneca Senior Center and carpool to the summer home of member Justine LeFauve for a meeting and picnic.
