The first 500 people to greet the fair train Thursday in Hamburg will receive a "train day" button to commemorate the arrival of the Strates Show.
The James E. Strates Show train is expected to arrive at the historic Erie Railroad Depot in Hamburg on Scott Street between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Arrival updates will be made by the Erie County Fair on its Twitter and Facebook pages.
The buttons will commemorate the 30th year of the Big Wheel, one of the largest traveling Ferris wheels in America.
The train, which consists of more than 50 rail cars for rides and equipment and 34 trucks, begins the final leg of its journey to Hamburg using the Buffalo Southern Railroad running from Tifft Street through Blasdell to Hamburg. The crew can load or unload the train in less than 18 hours.
