Former Bills cornerback Stephon Gilmore booted from Patriots practice after scuffle

Former Buffalo Bills cornerback Stephon Gilmore was booted from New England Patriots practice after instigating a scuffle with receiver Julian Edelman, according to a report from NFL.com.

When Gilmore and Edelman were matched up on a drill, a pass to Edelman went incomplete. Edelman took exception to the 6-foot-1, 190-pound Gilmore holding him and wrestled Gilmore to the ground after the two exchanged harsh words. Reports indicate the incident lasted about 10-15 seconds when receiver Chris Hogan pried the two apart.

Patriots coach Bill Belichick has a strict no fighting policy and chucked both Gilmore and Edelman out of practice. This is Gilmore's first training camp with the Patriots.

The Bills drafted Gilmore in the first round in the 2012 NFL Draft and he was signed to a four-year contract at $12.08 million. Gilmore signed a five-year, $65 million deal with the Patriots in March 2017.
