The Buffalo Sabres on Thursday signed forward Evan Rodrigues to a two-year contract. The deal is worth a total of $1.3 million with an average annual value of $650,000.
The contract is a two-way deal for this season (different pay rates for playing in the NHL or AHL), and a one-way deal in 2018-19.
Rodrigues has seen part-time duty in the last two seasons with the Sabres. Last season he played in 30 games for Buffalo, with four goals and two assists for six points with four penalty minutes. The left winger also played 48 games for the Rochester Americans in 2016-17, with nine goals and 21 assists.
Rodrigues first turned pro in 2015 after a career at Boston University, where he was a teammate of Jack Eichel. Rodrigues played two games for the Sabres in 2015-16, with a goal and assist, and 72 games in Rochester (9-21-30).
