July 27 – Erie County Federation of Sportsmen’s Clubs will hold its monthly meeting at Niagara River Station, 355 E. River Road, Grand Island starting at 7 p.m.

July 27 – Kayaking with Tina at Beaver Island State Park from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Space is limited; sign up early. Call 282-5154 for information and registration. This is a beginner’s class.

July 29 – Memorial Trap Shoot and Chicken BBQ at Wood and Brook Sportsman’s Club, 13712 Genesee St., Crittenden. Shooting starts at 9 a.m. This will be a 100 bird shoot. Cost is $40 for shooters; $20 for non-shooters that include the BBQ and open bar. For more information call Brian Kilianski at 392-5370.

July 29 – Learn how to be a Citizen Scientist at Evangola State Park from 10 a.m. to noon. Preregister by calling 549-1050.

July 29-30 – Cabela’s Bowhunter Classic Weekend starting at 10 a.m. with game cameras. Also tree stand set-up and safety; gear for beginners and more. Located at 2003 Walden Ave., Cheektowaga.

July 30 – Final day and awards ceremony for the Lake Ontario Counties Trout and Salmon Derby. Fishing ends at 1 p.m. Awards ceremony starting at 4 p.m. with photos of winning fish (grand prize and top two places in each division). Captain Jack’s, Sodus Point. Aug. 1 – Fall trap team league begins at Allied Sportsman’s Club, 12846 Clinton St., Alden. The league will shoot Sundays 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and Tuesday 6-9 p.m. Includes 300 singles, Wobble will also be available. New shooters & public is welcome. Call Joe Truty for info 867-1458.

August 5 – Nature and Art at Evangola State Park from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Take a hike along Lake Erie and then return to the Nature Center for an evening of nature and art activities for the whole family. Call 549-1050 to register.

August 4-6 – Northern Chautauqua Conservation Club’s 13th Annual walleye derby on Lake Erie. Top 3 fish each day. Teams can consist of 2 to 4 anglers. Entry fee is $100. For more information contact Zen Olow at 640-2776.
