A Buffalo man was sentenced to 5 1/2 years in prison on weapons and drug charges.
Michael Billups, 38, also was sentenced to five years post-release supervision after pleading guilty to criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a controlled substance in June, according to the Erie County District Attorney's office.
Narcotics officers from the Erie County Sheriff’s Office in January executed a warrant to search Billups' home for illegal narcotics. During the raid, officers seized more than 4 ounces of cocaine, with a street value of about $12,000, that was found in a hidden compartment of a hollowed out book on a bookshelf inside the home. Officers also found a loaded .38-caliber revolver under a couch cushion.
