Founder of acupuncture practice buys Amherst medical office buildings

The founder of an acupuncture practice has purchased a pair of medical office buildings on Maple Road in Amherst.

Yoon Sung, a licensed acupuncturist, bought the buildings at 1825 and 1829 Maple Road with her mother for $2.1 million through a limited liability company to house her practice and as an investment, according to her husband, Daniel Jung, and real-estate records. The sale closed on Thursday.

The buyers searched for a year for the right property, Jung said. They liked its proximity to their Clarence home, to Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital and to other nearby medical office buildings and its location on busy Maple Road.

Sung plans to open Amherst Acupuncture, which also will offer Eastern-style and herbal medicine, by mid-September. The buildings have space for 11 tenants and there are four vacancies. This is the family's first local real-estate purchase but they own several properties in New York City.
