July 20 WNY Driver of the week: Mark Chiddy

Hometown: Boston

Division: Dirt Sportsman/Travels around area.

Lowdown: Chiddy is the son of former Modified driver Al Chiddy. He is a low-buck racer who enjoys traveling to various tracks in and out of the region. Mark and Al are former crew members of retired driver Ron Smoker. Chiddy is an alumni of the Go-Kart ranks. He began his Sportsman driving in 2004 after buying a race car from fellow Sportsman racer Brad Rouse.

Accomplishments: While Chiddy has never won a Sportsman class track championship he has amassed five career Sportsman feature wins including the July 3 Bellinger Electric Lightning Series event at Little Valley Speedway. He has also collected wins at Canandaigua, Ransomville and a pair of triumphs at Humberstone over the years. Chiddy earned a Junior Go-Kart title in 1995 at Concord Speedway. Also won Go-Kart races at Langford Speedway.

Favorite Food: "Anything with shrimp in it."

Favorite Music: "I listen to anything."

Hobbies: Enjoys time with family including wife Bridget Chiddy, stepsons Austin (12) and Gavin (9) and daughter Katelin (4).
