The keg will be tapped on this year's Erie County Fair craft beer during a ceremony at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, July 20 at Flying Bison Brewery, an event the fair is calling a kickoff to the fair season.
The event will feature this year's winning brew, a Baltic porter developed by Sean Wall of Hamburg, as well as an American Pale Ale based on a recipe that won the fair's home brew competition two years ago.
The "Roll out the Barrel" party at 840 Seneca St. will feature food trucks, samples of fair craft beers and R&B/soul music by Robert "Freight Train" Parker.
The fair’s home brew competition, now in its fourth year, drew 182 entries.
The kegged product will be offered by Try-It Distributing to select Western New York establishments for public purchase prior to the fair. During the fair a limited number of vendors at the fairgrounds will sell the award winning beers.
