Williamsville native dies in Arizona plane crash

Williamsville native Alan Ram was one of two people killed in plane crash Monday near Mesa Falcon Field in Arizona, according to azcentral.com, a news website.

Ram, 53, was piloting the plane at the time, and had one passenger, Krista Buchanan, 22, news accounts on the Arizona website stated. Both were found dead at the scene.

The plane crashed on the fairway at Longbow Golf Course a little before 5 p.m., according to the azcentral.com story. A witness claimed the plane went up in flames soon after.

Ram attended Williamsville East High School, according to his LinkedIn account.

The plane was traveling from Phoenix to Orange County, Calif., when it crashed, according to the azcentral.com account.

The Associated Press reported that the plane was about a half-mile off the approach end of the runway when it crashed.

Before the crash, the aircraft had reported mechanical problems, according to the azcentral.com article. An investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board was underway.
