Soupy's smash: Remembering Campbell's hit on Umberger

Former Sabres defenseman Brian Campbell announced his retirement from the National Hockey League today, and if there was one specific moment that sticks out from his eight years in Buffalo, it's his thunderous hit on the Philadelphia Flyers' R.J. Umberger in overtime of Game 1 of the 2006 Eastern Conference quarterfinal.

Watch the video of that hit, below:

The Sabres would go on to beat the Flyers in six games, before dispatching the Ottawa Senators in five games. Buffalo fell to Carolina in seven games in the Eastern Conference finals.

While Campbell's hit reverberated all the way to the top Buffalo sports moments in 2006, it surprisingly didn't do much damage to Umberger, who was sidelined for Game 2 before suiting up for the third game.
