Long lines of Tim Hortons fans start their days idling in the drive-thrus of the restaurants that dot the Western New York landscape.
People who prefer Spot Coffee, however, have to get out of their vehicles at the chain's eight local locations, which don't have drive-thru lanes.
That soon could change, because the Clarence Town Board is poised to give final approval to Spot Coffee's request to add a drive-thru to its coffee shop at 5205 Transit Road in the Eastgate Plaza.
Spot Coffee has talked about opening a drive-thru there for more than a year. Building owner Benderson Development revised the site plan to address concerns about traffic flow. If the Town Board grants a special-exception use permit July 26, and the town issues a building permit, the chain would begin construction right away, said Erin Ingalls, Spot Coffee's operations manager. The drive-thru would open later this year.
