Locals swim in World Synchro meet in Budapest

Rachel Jager of Williamsville will compete with Team USA Tuesday in the Team Tech Event at the FINA World Synchronized Swimming Championships in Budapest, Hungary. Anita Alvarez of Kenmore and Victoria Woroniecki will begin the preliminary phase of the duet freestyle competition later in the day. They finished 12th in the technical portion of the duet competition over the weekend.

On Monday, Team USA's Bill May (Cicero) and Kanako Spendlove (Las Vegas, Nev.) won bronze in the mixed duet tech final Monday. May and Spendlove scored 87.6682 points to finish third. Italy's Manila Flamini and Giorgio Minisini won gold with 90.2979 points, narrowly defeating Russia's Mikhaela Kalancha and Aleksandr Maltsev, who had 90.2639. The U.S. duet had finished third in the preliminary.
