Jamestown man charged in DWI crash that injured passenger

A man was seriously hurt early Sunday when the car in which he was a passenger ran off Route 430 in Mina, struck several trees and overturned, the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office said. The driver faces multiple charges.

Christopher R. Jones, 22, of Jamestown, was charged with first-degree vehicular assault, failure to keep right and aggravated driving while intoxicated, meaning he is accused of having a blood-alcohol content that exceeded .18 percent. He was held without bail in the Chautauqua County Jail following the 3:15 a.m. crash.

The victim, who was not identified, was taken to Hamot Medical Center in Erie, Pa.

Members of the Findley Lake and Sherman fire departments assisted deputies at the crash site.
