The fate of a large, upscale student housing project planned for a site near the University at Buffalo North Campus in Amherst could be decided Monday night.
Core Spaces, an out-of-town developer of student housing, proposes building a 154-unit complex on North Forest Road that would serve students attending the UB campus, which is about one mile south.
For the project to proceed, deed restrictions on the parcels at 2949, 2925 and 2915 North Forest must be removed. The Town Board is set to act Monday. The project also would need site plan approval from the Planning Board, which in March recommended removing the deed restrictions.
Tenants of the nearby Bryant Woods Office Park oppose the project and have raised traffic, public safety and property value concerns.
