Six people were arrested after they disrupted a fundraiser for Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard on Thursday night in Orchard Park, police said.
Police responded to the Wings Meeting Place, 3964 California Road, shortly before 7:30 p.m. after receiving a report of people being disruptive, Orchard Park police said.
The fundraising event was dubbed "Sheriff Howard's 5th Annual Smokin' Steak Out." A group known as Showing Up for Racial Justice Action had previously announced it planned to conduct a protest there to draw attention to a number of issues related to Howard, including operations at the Erie County Holding Center.
Arrested were Pasquale P. Raico, 26, of Amherst and five Buffalo residents: Amanda L. Kisselstein, 26; Emma L. Fabian, 29; Matthew M. LaPennas, 32; Stefanie H. McGraw, 26; and Anika E. Ochoa-Kortiz, 25. They were charged with third-degree criminal trespass, sixth-degree conspiracy and disorderly conduct. All were released with appearance tickets except Kisselstein.
