Shaw Festival announces death of actor Jonah McIntosh

Jonah McIntosh, a young Canadian actor who was in the middle of his first season at the Shaw Festival in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ont., has died, according to a Facebook post from the company.

"It is with great sadness we mourn the tragic passing of Jonah McIntosh," the Shaw Festival statement said. "We are devastated by the loss of such a source of joy and sunlight in our company. Our hearts go out to his family and everyone who love him. All we can do is offer them, and each other, all the unconditional love we can."

McIntosh, who trained at Sheridan College in Oakville, Ont., was featured in two Shaw Festival productions.

He gave an acrobatic turn in "1837: The Farmer's Revolt" and was in the ensemble in "Me and My Girl."

The cause of his death was not known Wednesday afternoon.
