Niagara Wheatfield's Maddie Klidonas and Portville's Ronald Lott III have been selected as recipients of the 2017 Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame Board of Directors' New Era Student-Athlete Scholarship Awards.
The honor is bestowed annually to student-athletes based on Academic Performance and school citizenship in addition to athletic participation. The honorees received one-year awards of $2,500.
Klidonas and Lott played three sports at each's respective school.
Klidonas played four seasons of softball and basketball. The first team All-WNY softball pick hit .460 with 22 RBIs. She captained both teams along with volleyball. She ranked 17th out of 302 students in her graduating class and will attend St. John Fisher in Rochester.
Lott also played three sports, football, basketball and baseball. He served as team captain in all three – earning four varsity letters in football and hoops.
The Houghton College-bound lad is a two-time All-Western New York Scholar Athlete who ranked third in his class of 71 with a cumulative average of 99. Lott also competed in academic events as he took first place at the Alfred State Science Fair.
