Grant Street teen seriously injured in gang assault

One man was arrested late Saturday afternoon in the gang assault and robbery of a 17-year-old Grant Street male who was taken by ambulance to Erie County Medical Center for treatment of head and facial injuries, said police.

The assault occurred at 5:20 p.m. in the 200 block of Albany Street in the Grant-Ferry neighborhood, where at least three men jumped the teenager, police said.

Makat A. Chan, 22, of Columbus Parkway was charged with felony gang assault, first-degree robbery and possession of stolen property, police said.

At least two suspects fled in an unknown direction, police added.
