Garden Notes July 8-14

The Amherst Garden Walk is planned for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 8. For a list of gardens, visit the town website. Maps also are scheduled to be available at: Arbordale, Hi-Way, Lavocat’s, Lincoln Park, Menne, Mischler’s, Donald Spoth Farm and 111 Campus Drive West.

Springville Concord Elder Network (SCENe) Garden Club is planning its second free Community Garden Walk from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 8. Maps can be picked up tour day at Fiddlers Green Park gazebo, North Buffalo and Franklin streets, Springville.

The 13th annual Lockport In Bloom Garden Walk will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 8 and 9. The free walking/driving tour features more than 40 historic homes and gardens, including public parks. A Twilight in the Garden walk is scheduled for 6:30 to 9 p.m. July 8. Maps/brochures can be picked up tour day at the headquarters at the Kenan Center, 433 Locust St., Lockport.

The 13th annual Village of Hamburg Garden Walk will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 8 and 9. Maps for this free event will be available at the Memorial Park Band Stand, corner of Lake and Union streets, Village of Hamburg. Garden vendors will be in the park both days.

The second annual Grand Island Garden Walk is planned for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 9. Maps to the free event will be available at the Town Commons Gazebo, 2255 Baseline Road at Whitehaven Road.

The 15th annual Snyder-CleveHill Garden View of about 30 private gardens and public spaces is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 9 in the Snyder and Cleveland Hill neighborhoods. Maps may be picked up at Trillium’s Courtyard Florist, 2195 Kensington Ave., Snyder. A $2 donation is suggested.

Cheektowaga Garden Club will hold its annual plant sale and basket raffle at Cheektowaga Town Park on Harlem Road from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 8 and 9. The sale will feature perennials, herbs and house plants.

East Aurora Garden Club will meet at noon July 10 in St. Matthias Episcopal Church, Main and Maple streets, East Aurora. Park in the rear lot. Kristy Schmitt, director of education at the Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens, will present “Butterfly Gardening.” Call 980-3202 or 652-4985.

Kenmore Garden Club will tour four members’ gardens beginning at 9:15 a.m. July 11. Lunch will be served at the last garden.

Hamburg Garden Club will visit the Green Roof on Art’s Café, 5 East Main St., Springville, at 10 a.m. July 12. Seth Wochensky, manager of the Green Roof, will give a tour of the building and present a new concept in roof gardening. Guests are welcome.

Amana Garden Club will meet at 11 a.m. July 12 for its annual picnic at the home of Lori Brand, 1371 Transit Road, Elma. Bring a dish to pass, a flower stem from your garden and a 1-pound item for auction.

South Town Gardeners will meet at 9:30 a.m. July 14 at the West Seneca Senior Center, 4620 Seneca St., West Seneca. Bob Heiss, retired owner of Galley’s Florist, will demonstrate vase arrangements. Guest are welcome. Call 668-0209.
