Ronald W. Malin, an attorney for 40 years in Jamestown, died Saturday in his Buffalo home after a period of declining health. He was 82.
Born in Buffalo, he spent his early years in the Lovejoy neighborhood and was a 1952 graduate of Oakfield-Alabama High School.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Michigan State University in 1956, completed his juris doctor degree at the University at Buffalo Law School in 1959 and worked for a year with the Federal Trade Commission in Cleveland.
In 1960, Mr. Malin joined the firm of Johnson, Peterson, Tener and Anderson in Jamestown, where he specialized in transportation anti-trust law and corporate law. The firm became Price, Flowers, Malin and Westerberg in 1996. He moved to Buffalo after he retired in 2000.
A master chess player, he was Jamestown city champion in 1969 and 1970.
His wife of 55 years, the former Sue C. Libkumen, an award-winning artist, died in 2010.
Survivors include three sons, William, Michael and Scott; a daughter, Mary Jo Dale; a brother, Charles; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 10 in Amigone Funeral Home, 1132 Delaware Ave.
