Man accused of stealing shelving from City of Tonawanda warehouse

City of Tonawanda Police arrested a man Wednesday after they caught him stealing metal shelving from a warehouse, according to a police report.

Michael McCurry, 58, of the City of Tonawanda, was loading shelving worth $1,800 into his pickup truck behind the Leisure Living warehouse, 574 Main St., around noon when officers arrived, according to the police report. Officers said McCurry attempted to leave but was stopped by the officers.

McCurry was charged with felony grand larceny, felony driving while intoxicated, third-degree criminal trespassing and vehicle and traffic offenses, police said. Police said the DWI was a felony charge because McCurry had a previous DWI conviction.

Bail was set at $5,000 and McCurry is due in court on Friday.
